Writing Fellow Song

Lyrics and music by Matthew Gee (2005)

Verse 1

We are the Friendly Face on the Love of Letters

for a people far too busy to give to letters any more

It’s a warm embrace, high of thought and feeling,

that a pen can give to those who want to know what life is for.

We are the forward strength of the underwritten.

Without blot or blank we mean intensely and we mean for good.

Without call or rank, we fill the want of heroes.

Raising sitters while we move the ones who stand from where they stood

And We Say…

Chorus

Gladly we all learn, gladly we all teach

And find the pen is mightier for those that we all reach

Gladly we all learn, gladly we all teach

Reaching every him and her,

Until the pen is mightier,

Until the pen is mightier for each.

Verse 2

We all know writing as the liveliest of pleasures.

With words it makes immortal all that’s best and beautiful and full.

We want all to have, both round about and center,

a greater glimpse of human nature and a comprehensive soul.

We help the all in all sufficient self director

and the ones that seem to like to lack the poetry of life.

Knowing genius breathes in atmospheres of freedom,

we build the confidence that breaks the chains of ignorance’s strife.

And We Say…

Repeat Chorus
